What You Can Expect In This Role:
Our examiner is responsible for the day-to-day examination of title files. S/He reviews compiled information pertaining to the subject property and then utilizes codes to properly identify each item to be disclosed on the preliminary report.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinates title plant operations with the title department, customer service, and outside services, as needed
• Review recorded deeds, mortgages and other documents affecting title to real property
• Maintains records of information gathered related to properties
• Reports research findings to appropriate personnel
• Conduct daily searches of recorded documents at the Register of Deeds
• Assist with uploading and transferring of electronic documents
• Performs any other duties delegated by management
• Adheres to company policies and guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE
Experience in the land title industry is preferred.
EDUCATION
A high school diploma is required. Some college preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, INSURANCE
No certifications, licenses, or insurance are required.
Become a licensed Abstracter within 1-3 years of employment

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (including physical requirements)
This position requires repetitive use of a keyboard, bending, sitting, squatting, and simple grasping. Minimal travel within the City of Brookings is required daily.

Salary Range Information:
$40,000-$45,000/year. Starting salary is dependent on candidate qualifications and experience. For a narrower salary range please inquire.
